Summer Travels & What’s Coming Up…

Hey everyone! I know I haven’t been consistent with my posts, but that is because I have been traveling a lot within the past couple of weeks. As you all may or may not know I am moving to Chicago in about a month to start grad school! I went to Chicago the week of my birthday to go apartment hunting. It was stressful and something I really did not want to do as I was looking at apartments on my birthday, but it was definitely worth it! My mom and I ended up finding a place so I am super excited for the move! I celebrated my birthday with some family members and a good friend of mine at this cute little Italian Restaurant in Hyde Park called Piccolo Mondo. I highly suggest for large groups and birthdays!

I flew straight from Chicago to Los Angeles to visit one of my good friends that I met in college. I started my trip by going to Roscoe’s House of Chicken and Waffles which was great because I love waffles and they have the best macaroni and cheese (haha, anyway). The next day we walked to this little cafe called Little Ruby in Santa Monica and from there we walked from Santa Monica all the way to the Venice Boardwalk. Okay it wasn’t THAT long of a walk, but it was about a 45 minute walk so my feet were screaming by the end of the day. There’s great people- watching on the boardwalk, and we got some good exercise walking and exploring! I suggested that we go to this area
called the Venice Canals and it was a small little getaway from the crowds of the Venice Boardwalk. It definitely looks like a little Venice, Italy with the small houses on the canal and the little boats, so it was really cute. After, we walked along the Hollywood Walk of Fame which was extremely overwhelming as there is so much stuff going on but it was the tourist in me that had to go do it! Following this we grabbed some dinner and then went to the Griffith Observatory to watch the sunset. Like almost everywhere in L.A. it was crowded, but the views of the city and the mountains were worth it! On Sunday we got brunch at Malibu Farm Restaurant which is on the pier. I had one of the best breakfast sandwiches!! We spent the rest of the afternoon at Westward Beach which is now my go-to beach when visiting L.A. because it’s pretty excluded and it’s in Malibu so it’s less crowded than Santa Monica or Venice. We had dinner at a restaurant on the Santa Monica pier which had great views, though getting to the actual restaurant was a mess since the pier was extremely crowded with people trying to get the true pier experience! I spent my last full day relaxing and then walking around the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica. This probably has to be my favorite outdoor shopping mall as it has all of my favorite stores and restaurants. Also since it’s outside you can enjoy the nice weather while shopping.

And now it’s back to reality… I have about a month left in Atlanta so I will be recording more episodes of the podcast with some guests that I have planned! I will also be doing some last minute adventures around the city, because I will definitely miss it when I move. I will try to post twice a week, but bear with me as I am trying to get my blogging schedule down! Please let me know if there is any topic you’d like for me to write about or do a podcast episode about. I’m pretty much an open book! I will be focusing more on relationships with my next few posts so stay tuned. Thanks for reading and I will be get back to you all really soon!
